"Dumb f**k didn't learn his lesson": Fans rip Ohio State's Jack Sawyer for trash talking Tennessee players before huge CFP game
Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Jack Sawyer is known for displaying emotions on the field. The other day it was against the Michigan Wolverines and this time during the College Football Playoff first-round game against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. Only this time, fans are not having his teasing.
Ohio State goes into halftime leading 21-10. A video released online shows Sawyer poking fun at the Vols bench during the halftime break. It seems the defensive end is almost convinced the Buckeyes are advancing into the second round while having fun at the same time.
Netizens reacted to his teasing gestures on X (formerly Twitter).
"Dumb f**k didn't learn his lesson," one fan commented.
"He's so good at that before the game. Once the ball drops, he's soft," another added.
"All dude does is talk lmao," another wrote.
"Winners talk with their play. Losers just talk," another added.
As far as the game is concerned, it was an electrifying first half. The Buckeyes dominated early, jumping to a commanding 21-0 lead in the first quarter with three touchdowns: a 37-yard pass from Will Howard to Jeremiah Smith, a 1-yard run by Quinshon Judkins, and a 29-yard sprint by TreVeyon Henderson.
Tennessee struggled initially but found momentum in the second quarter, narrowing the gap with a 36-yard field goal by Max Gilbert and a 2-yard touchdown run by Nico Iamaleava just before halftime.
Jack Sawyer's big time prediction for Ohio State vs. Michigan falls flat in his tenure so far
When Jack Sawyer joined Ryan Day's program in 2021, he was brimming with confidence, predicting Ohio State to win many championships in 2020s, while also stating they would win over the rival program, the Michigan Wolverines.
“I think the whole decade of the 2020s will be run by Ohio State,” Sawyer said at the time. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we won five, six, maybe even seven national championships. I know that sounds crazy, but that’s how much we believe in our coaching staff and each other.”
However, the Wolverines have instead won all games since the statement was made. In all four contests, including 2024's regular-season finale (13-10), Ohio State is yet to pick a win. They may take delight knowing that the defending champions couldn't make the playoffs, whereas they head full steam ahead.
