Emeka Egbuka injury update: Latest on Ohio State WR for game vs Purdue
Ohio State will face Purdue in a Week 7 road clash and Buckeyes fans are concerned about wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. The WR limped off in last week's clash with Maryland and did not return for the game. He has been a cornerstone of the Buckeyes offense and a trusted weapon for Kyle McCord in the slot.
Emeka Egbuka injury update
Emeka Egbuka didn't make the trip to Purdue as coach Ryan Day didn't want to take any chances with his prized asset.
Day clarified in a press conference, however, that it isn't a long term issue, so Egbuka should be available in the coming weeks, especially for the all important Week 8 clash with Penn State. He is undergoing treatment in Columbus, Ohio, as his teammates try to conquer the Boilermakers territory.
It looks like a straightforward game for the Buckeyes as the Boilermakers have struggled to get going this season. But the season can throw many surprises and the Buckeyes wouldn't want to drop their unbeaten run at Purdue.
Buckeyes aim to extend winning run without Emeka Egbuka
The Ryan Day system has worked like a charm for the Buckeyes so far. They are on a five-game winning streak and haven't had to face major problems to dispatch opponents so far this season. Notre Dame did give Ohio State a run for its money, but the Buckeyes proved too good in the end for the Fighting Irish in Week 4.
But that was before they lost Emeka Egbuka to injury. He has recorded 22 receptions so far this season for a total of 303 yards. That is an average of 13.8 yards per reception. He has also scored three touchdowns. Who will fill the void created by his absence, even if it could be just for one game?
