"First or second quarterback": Carson Beck's flailing NFL Draft stock saved by Tennessee win, argues CFB analyst

College football analyst Adam Breneman believes quarterback Carson Beck has improved his chances of getting drafted higher in the 2025 NFL Draft. This is after Beck led the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs to a commanding win over the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers in Week 12, on Nov. 16.

Georgia (8-2, 6-2 Southeastern Conference) overwhelmed Tennessee (8-2, 5-2) for a 31-17 victory in a home game. Beck had 25 of 40 completed passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns.

Breneman argued after the game, on Yahoo Sports' "College Football Power Hour" podcast, that Beck's performance reminded fans why he could be the first or second quarterback picked in the draft.

"This was the Carson Beck that we've been waiting to see all season. The Carson Beck we saw tonight was the Carson Beck who will be the first or second quarterback taken in the NFL Draft," Breneman said.

The analyst continued to praise Beck's efforts in the win over the Volunteers and his ability to be an elite quarterback when his team supports him.

"Carson looked polished in the pocket," Breneman added. "He wasn't rattled at all, and we've talked a lot on this show about Carson Beck, (he) has got caught a lot of flak from everyone, from us three every single week talking about his last few weeks. Rightfully so. He has not played well, but he has not had any help, and we saw today when Carson Beck has some help, and his offensive line protects, and he has time to throw the football, and then he has some receivers, Oscar Delp at tight end, that can make some plays down the field, Carson Beck is an elite quarterback."

The win was a step up from Beck after a disappointing performance in Georgia's Week 11 28-10 loss against the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels (8-2, 4-2) on Nov. 9. He ended the game completing 20 of 31 passes for 186 yards and one interception.

Beck's showing in Week 12 ended a four-game streak where he would throw an interception. The NFL draft prospect has a total of 235 completed passes for 2,835 yards and 19 touchdowns for the season.

The Bulldogs have only two games left on their regular schedule. On Saturday, he'll try to have another standout performance in Week 13 when Georgia plays the Massachusetts Minutemen (2-8). These next two games could be what Beck needs to make a case for why he should be a top pick in the NFL draft next year.
