Five-star commit Julian Lewis among top recruits in Hugh Freeze's list to make official Auburn visit this week
The Auburn Tigers are set to host a number of potential recruits on an official visit this weekend. The Tigers will be hoping that these players are impressed enough by the program that they decide to commit to Hugh Freeze and his Tigers side. One key player that they will be welcoming is quarterback prospect Julian Lewis.
Lewis is a five-star ranked prospect from the state of Georgia. He had a successful 2023 season as a junior in high school, where he threw for 3,094 yards and scored 48 touchdowns. This included one game where he scored seven touchdowns. He also scored at least four touchdowns in five games.
Lewis is one of the top-ranked quarterback prospects in the 2025 class, and his abilities will provide Auburn with a strong replacement for current starter Payton Thorne.
It may be hard for Auburn Tigers to get Julian Lewis to commit to them
There is one problem with Hugh Freeze's plan to bring Julian Lewis to the Auburn Tigers: he has already committed to a program.
At the beginning of the 2023 season, Lewis announced his commitment to the USC Trojans.
"USC has a lot of history as a program and going out there you can feel the excitement around the program," Lewis told On3.com.
"Coach Riley is the Head Coach and OC so that stood out a lot for me as well. He’s developed the best QB’s in college football over and over again and that’s what I want to be. They have a great strength program and I know that will help get the most out of me. The more I learned about the school and academics it just all made sense,” he added.
However, this commitment is not iron clad, and Lewis has been visiting over schools.
This gives the Auburn Tigers a chance to impress him enough to make him reconsider his commitment to USC and go to the Tigers instead.
Which other players are visiting Auburn this weekend?
There are many highly skilled players who will be making a visit to the Auburn Tigers this weekend.
Some players of note include:
1) Sharmar Arnoux, a cornerback who is a high school teammate of Julian Lewis.
2) Duane Morris, a running back who will be able to shine in a position that Auburn has not been able to recruit in their 2024 class. However, like Lewis, he also has a commitment to USC.
3) Darrell Johnson, a linebacker who has already committed to the Tigers' state rivals, the Alabama Crimson Tide. If Auburn were to convince Johnson to commit to them, this would be a massive steal for the team.
