"Flip incoming" "This is wild": Fans have hilarious reaction to Connor Stalions' latest coaching gig after Michigan exit
Connor Stalions was at the center of Michigan football's sign-stealing scandal last season. He resigned from his post in November 2023, but it appears that Stalions has found another coaching job at one of the top high school football teams in the country.
On Sunday, On3 reported that Belleville High School in Michigan has hired Stalions as part of its coaching staff since the team hopes to make a deep run in the playoffs. It's fair to say that fans on social media had some hilarious reactions to the news.
Some suggested that Stalions would aim to flip five-star Belleville quarterback Bryce Underwood's commitment from LSU to Michigan.
"Flip incoming," one wrote.
"Nobody can convince me this isn’t cheating and Stalions is not there to recruit the kid for Michigan. What possible reason could Belleville have to hire him?" another tweeted.
"Lmao why would Bellevilles staff hire him knowing he’s going to spend 100% of his time trying to recruit underwood to Michigan," a user commented.
A few others were taken aback by the news that Belleville hired Connor Stalions, especially for its playoff run, considering his history.
"This is wild lmfao," another added.
"Get ready to learn Spy glasses, tripods, and binoculars, young man!" one joked, referring to Stalions' sign-stealing scandal at Michigan.
"How the hell is this legal. This is ridiculous. If I am LSU I would be furious," one commented.
Notably, this will be Stalions' second coaching gig of the season. He was previously working as Mumford's defensive coordinator/interim head coach as the team finished the regular season with a 1-8 record.
Over the past few weeks, reports have suggested that Underwood has been a top target for Michigan. On Saturday, it was reported that the Wolverines offered the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class an NIL deal worth nearly $10 million.
Just a day later, Belleville coach Dejuan Rogers confirmed on Sunday that Connor Stalions would be part of his coaching staff, working with Underwood, for the MHSAA playoffs.
Connor Stalions' sign-stealing controversy at Michigan
As per reports, when Connor Stalions was working for Michigan last season, he had purchased tickets to opponents' games for numerous associates to allegedly learn their plays. There was also an incident where he reportedly attended a game at Central Michigan University in disguise.
The NCAA opened an investigation into Michigan's sign-stealing scandal in October. However, less than a month later, on Nov. 3, 2023, Stalions resigned from his job with the Wolverines.
Michigan went on to win the national title, going undefeated through the season.
