Florida's top 2025 NFL Draft prospects, listed: Insider notes on Montrell Johnson Jr., Cam Jackson, Shemar James, and more
Despite being a program that has lost its way in recent times, the Florida Gators have had a player selected in the first round of every draft since 2020. That streak will end next April, as the program may not end up with a top-100 selection.
Florida Gators 2025 NFL Draft Preview
#1 Montrell Johnson Jr.
Running back Montrell Johnson Jr. grades as the Gators’ top prospect, as he’s a bigger back with solid quickness and power. He grinds it out on the inside, picks up the difficult yardage, and displays a lot of quickness in his game.
Johnson also catches the ball very well out of the backfield. He’s better on the inside versus turning the perimeter and will be one-dimensional at the next level.
#2 Shemar James
Linebacker Shemar James was on his way to a career year before a knee injury ended his season after eight games. He’s an athletic defender who makes a lot of plays in space and covers a ton of area on the field.
#3 Jason Marshall Jr.
Cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. has the size and speed (six feet, 200 pounds, and 4.45 in the 40) to be a Day 2 pick and flashes ability on occasion, but he must elevate his game next season to make it out of the draft’s final day.
#4 Cam Jackson
Defensive tackle Cam Jackson had a solid season at Florida last season after transferring from Memphis, and he has his fans in the scouting community.
Jackson measures 6-foot-6, 368 pounds, and moves relatively well for a large man. Like Marshall, he has Day 2 possibilities, but he must take his game to the next level.
