Football coach Marcus Freeman congratulates 2x national champs Notre Dame lacrosse team for glorious season

Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman took to Instagram to congratulate the ND Lacrosse team for a special achievement. He shared a snap with ‘three national champs’ to express his happiness on the program winning the national title.

The photo featured lacrosse players Sam Assaf, Jordan Faison and Tyler Buchner, each of whom also played for Freeman on the ND football team.

Freeman said that it was exciting to watch the team dominate the entire season on their way to back-to-back national championships.

Freeman is getting ready for the 2024 college football season with the Fighting Irish, with the goal of winning a national championship of his own. A new-look Notre Dame football team will take the field this fall after a big overhaul due to the 2024 NFL Draft and transfers. Maybe he will take inspiration from the school’s lacrosse team to do just that.

Here is what the Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman had to say about the Fighting Irish lacrosse team’s season.

“Congrats @ndlscrosse! It's been exciting watching you all season! I’m especially happy for these three NATIONAL CHAMPS,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

The Notre Dame lacrosse team lifted their second straight national title after convincingly beating Maryland in the championship game. The Fighting Irish won the game by a 15-5 margin to finish the season with just one loss, their record standing at 16-1. ND has gone 30-3 over the past two seasons.

It is also the first time a Division 1 program has won back-to-back lacrosse titles since the Duke Blue Devils achieved the feat in 2014 and 2015. Such a dominating display warrants special acclaim for the program, and they got it from football coach Marcus Freeman.

When Marcus Freeman congratulated his former player after 2024 NFL Draft selection

Marcus Freeman keeps tabs on what is happening both on and off the football field. Last month, he took to Instagram to congratulate his former cornerback Cam Hart after his selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. He said that he was excited to see Hart perform well in Los Angeles.

"Congrats, Cam!!! Excited to see you shine in LA!” he wrote in the caption.

The Los Angeles Rams selected Hart with the 140th overall pick on the third day of the draft. His covering prowess was evident in his final season at the college level when he allowed just 15 pass completions for 137 yards in the entire year.

During his time in South Bend, the opposing offense only managed three touchdown passes, something pretty incredible for a defensive back who began his career as a wide receiver.

Notre Dame has made some noise in the past few weeks.
