Former Eagles star makes a case for Shedeur Sanders after Dillon Gabriel becomes 1 of the 4 Heisman finalists
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel joined Colorado's Travis Hunter, Boise State's Ashton Jeanty and Miami's Cam Ward as the finalists for this year's Heisman Trophy. However, former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Golic made a case for Colorado quarterback Sheduer Sanders to have potentially gotten ahead of Gabriel as one of the four finalists.
During Tuesday's episode of the "GoJo and Golic" show, Golic said he would have considered putting Sanders as a Heisman finalist ahead of Gabriel, who has maintained Oregon's unbeaten record heading into the College Football Playoff.
"There's part of me that would have put Shedeur Sanders over Dillon Gabriel," Golic said. "I know Gabriel is on the No. 1 team, the only undefeated team. That helped him a lot, but what Shedeur did was somewhat amazing."
Sanders finished the regular season with 3,926 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for four TDs. He led Colorado to a 9-3 (7-2 Big 12) record.
On Friday, Sanders was named as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. He also won the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Sanders is on course to play his final game collegiate game when Colorado faces Big 12 rival BYU in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. The Buffs quarterback is expected to enter the 2025 NFL draft, with many expecting him to become a top 10 pick.
