Former Falcons QB delivers clear verdict on Coach Prime's Colorado's chances to make it to the Big 12 championship
Former Atlanta Falcons QB Danny Kanell provided his honest take on Coach Prime's Colorado Buffaloes and their chances of making it to the Big 12 Championship games.
While Deion Sanders has led his team to a 4-1 start, including a 2-0 record in conference play, Kanell isn't entirely convinced they can go all the way.
Speaking on the 'Cover 3 Podcast', Kanell said:
"I've never had a good feel for where Colorado is going to be. I see Rick Ross in the locker room, and it’s like they’re hosting a concert. I was like, is this team ready to go? Yeah, they looked ready to go. They just do things differently.
“I wouldn't be surprised either way. I mean clearly that was a huge win for them [vs. UCF Knight in Week 5]. They looked more physical than we've seen them all year,” he added.
Kanell said that while Colorado could finish 8-4, he doesn’t think that will be enough to secure a spot in the Big 12 Championship game.

Paul Finebaum is coming around Coach Prime's Colorado program
Anyone’s hardly listened to positive analysis from ESPN’s Paul Finebaum regarding Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. He has surely been among the harshest critics of the 57-year-old Pro Football Hall of Famer.
However, Colorado has surprised the college football world with their performance so far, so much so that even Finebaum sees light at the end of the tunnel for Coach Prime.
Always one to speak his mind, Finebaum is giving credit where it's due. Speaking on 'The Matt Barrie Show', Finebaum praised Sanders and his Buffaloes, who have bounced back since their early-season loss to Nebraska.
"They went somewhere I thought would be incredibly difficult and won in dominating fashion. As someone who has been very critical of Deion Sanders, I have to say he has managed this team quite well in spite of all the bullets and all of the attacks and all of the criticisms, some of it coming from me.
"I give him enormous credit ... They're back to being a legitimate story for the first time," he added. [00:30]
The Buffaloes prepare to face No. 18 Kansas State this weekend after an open week. The Colorado HC and Co. are dreaming big as they stay undefeated in conference play and eye a Big 12 title.
