Former NFL head coach predicts Deion Sanders' exit from Colorado for another job
Deion Sanders is among the most talked-about coaches in the college football world right now. Despite their disappointing 4-8 season, many fans and analysts predict a better run for the Buffaloes in the upcoming 2024 campaign.
While three Colorado stars, Shilo Sanders, Travis Hunter, and Shedeur Sanders, will play their last season in college football before moving on to the NFL, there is speculation about Deion Sanders' future. Many individuals assume Deion will move on to the NFL with his sons, while some believe Sanders would fit better with a program like USC.
Despite Sanders' reaffirmations about sticking with Colorado, former NFL and Oklahoma Sooners head coach Barry Switzer thinks that might not be the case. Speaking on OutKick’s "Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich," he weighed in on what the future might look like for Coach Prime:
"Deion is going to go where it fits Deion. I don’t say he is tied to Colorado; he is going to try and establish himself there, but Deion is going to go what fits Deion, and I understand.
"All coaches do that. I didn’t when I was at Oklahoma. Hell, I had one of the best jobs in the country when I was here in the ‘70s and ’80s. I wasn’t going anywhere. I wished they paid me more, but it was different times and a different era."
Deion Sanders' plan for Colorado in 2024
Deion Sanders has been making all the necessary changes to the Colorado Buffaloes' roster as well as the coaching staff.
In 2023, the team's biggest contributor to the unsuccessful season was their offensive line. While quarterbacks like Oregon's Dan Lanning were sacked a total of six times, Shedeur Sanders was sacked at least 50 times throughout the season, leaving him with few opportunities to make plays.
Sanders' seems to have done a good job at tackling this issue by bringing in an entirely new offensive line for the 2024 season. They have just two players from last season, sophomore Hank Zilinskas and senior Kareem Harden. The new offensive line includes talent powerhouses like UTEP transfer Justin Mayers, 5-star recruit Jordan Seaton, and Indiana transfer Mathew Bedford.
Fans will be interested to see if the revamped Colorado roster gives the Buffaloes a better chance at beating their 4-8 record from last year and even securing a potential Bowl Game spot in 2024.
