Former NFL Star Clinton Portis' son Camdin receives scholarship offer from Ryan Day's Ohio State: REPORTS

The Ohio State Buckeyes are eyeing top-tier talent to enhance their roster, and Camdin Portis, son of ex-NFL running back Clinton Portis, has been offered a scholarship.

Camdin, a three-star cornerback from the class of 2026, announced the news on social media.

"After a great camp, I am blessed to say I've earned an offer from the Ohio State University."

This offer joins a growing list of suitors that include Akron, Tennessee, Auburn, and Missouri. According to 247Sports, Camdin is the No. 15 prospect in North Carolina for his class. As a sophomore at Myers Park High School, he showcased his defensive skills with two interceptions and 10 pass breakups.

Cooper Petagna, a 247Sports scout, highlighted Camdin as a standout performer at the recent Under Armour Next Camp. Petagna praised him for his "efficient mover" description and noted his patience, suddenness, and exceptional man-to-man defensive abilities. He added:

"Although the physical traits pop, Portis' coverage instincts and ability to play the ball in the air are areas of his game that are well beyond his peers."

Clinton, Camdin’s father, had an illustrious collegiate career where he scored 23 touchdowns in three seasons for the Miami Hurricanes. In the NFL, he became a two-time Pro Bowler and the 2002 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Ryan Day leads Ohio State's stellar recruiting for 2025

Ohio State finished the previous season with a splendid 11-2 record but missed the College Football Playoff after being beaten by Michigan for the Big Ten title.

However, head coach Ryan Day and his staff showed tremendous resolve and optimism with their No. 1 ranked 2025 recruiting class. It featured four-star running back Bo Jackson and four-star safety Faheem Delane.

"Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes got another significant addition to the nation's top college football recruiting class in the 2025 cycle Sunday, getting a commitment from safety Faheem Delane, the No. 52 overall prospect in the 2025 ESPN 300," wrote ESPN's Eli Lederman.

Delane, a defensive back from Maryland's Our Lady Good Counsel High School, chose Ohio State over LSU and Oregon.

The Buckeyes also boast three five-star commitments: cornerbacks Devin Sanchez and Na'eem Offord, and quarterback Tavien St. Clair. Meanwhile, their top targets include five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr., five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore, and five-star cornerback Dorian Brew.

With 14 current commits and potentially 10 more to come, the team holds a strong lead over second-ranked Notre Dame.
