Former Oklahoma State star Tyreek Hill once recalled why he didn't go to NC State

Before he was the fastest man in the NFL, Tyreek Hill was the fastest man at Garden City Community College, Oklahoma State and West Alabama. Hill attended Garden City following high school and was ranked as the No. 3 JUCO recruit in the country, per 247Sports.

In a 2023 interview, Hill reflected on his high school recruitment and the lone D-1 offer he received coming out of Douglas, Georgia.

"I took a visit to NC State my senior year. Whoever [NC State] was playing against, the receiver T.J. Graham went crazy... NC State was the only school that offered me a scholarship in high school. The only reason I didn't go there was T.J. Graham, he went off that game."

After two seasons at Garden City, Hill transferred to Oklahoma State, where he recorded 1,811 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns in 2014. He then moved to West Alabama, where he dominated offensively and on special teams.

In 2015, Hill notched 1,403 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns. Tyreek Hill was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Oklahoma State off to a strong start this season

Tyreek Hill's alma mater is off to a fast start this season after narrowly avoiding an upset in Week 2 against Arkansas. The Cowboys entered halftime down 21-7 before battling back to secure an overtime win.

Fueled by an 18-point fourth quarter, Oklahoma State topped the Razorbacks 39-31, advancing to 2-0 on the season. Following the win, Oklahoma State moved to No. 13 in the AP Top 25 ahead of their Week 3 matchup versus Tulsa.

After Tulsa, the Cowboys have two major tests: a Week 4 matchup against the No. 12 Utah Utes and another Top 25 clash against the No. 14 Kansas State Wildcats.

Opening as an underdog in both games, the Cowboys look to maintain their national ranking.
