Former Steelers star Ryan Clark makes his stance clear on Deion Sanders' future as Shedeur hands the keys to Julian LewisÂ
Deion Sanders has been the talk of the town in the college football world amid his impressive work with the No. 16 Colorado Buffaloes (8-2, 6-1 Big 12). Coach Prime has garnered interest from NFL teams and other top college programs. Furthermore, top prospect Julian Lewis committed to Colorado on Thursday to potentially work with Sanders.
With Sanders' future now in the spotlight, former NFL safety Ryan Clark has offered his stance on what's next for Coach Prime. During an appearance on ESPN's "Get Up" on Friday, Clark also addressed Lewis' commitment to Colorado.
"The only reason you would change your mind is because you respect that Deion Sanders would have the integrity to have the conversation with the kid (Lewis). You would think that if Sanders was going to leave, he would tell a young man like this, 'Hey, I don't know necessarily if I'm going to be here for the tenure of your college career.'
"But that ain't how college football works though. Because Deion doesn't get to say, 'Hey, give me a job in the NFL or let me go to the SEC.' I think he wants to go to the NFL? Yes. Do I think he should go to the NFL? Yes."
Since Colorado's starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders is likely to declare for the NFL draft next year, this would mean Lewis could fight for the Buffaloes' QB1 next season.
Lewis is among the best high school quarterbacks. He was on course to join USC, but the signal-caller switched his commitment to Colorado on Thursday while appearing on "The Pat McAfee Show."
Deion Sanders' Colorado aims to reach the College Football Playoff this season
Sanders' Colorado has an excellent chance of making the College Football Playoff this season. The Buffaloes need to win both of their remaining regular-season games to give themselves the best opportunity of qualifying for the playoffs.
The Buffs will face Kansas on Saturday and then play their final regular season game against Oklahoma State on Nov. 29. These are two winnable games for Colorado.
