Liufau's journey from a 3-star prospect to an NFL pick is a sheer result of his determination and talent. Despite initial scholarship uncertainties, Liufau seized his opportunities, ultimately becoming a standout player for Notre Dame.

Overcoming an ankle injury that sidelined him for the 2021 season, Liufau returned with a clear mindset in 2022, starting all 13 games and recording 51 tackles that year. His speed and physicality impacted Notre Dame’s 9-4 season in 2022, which otherwise looked bleak on the defensive front.

How will Marist Liufau fare at the Dallas Cowboys?

The arrival of Marist Liufau at the Dallas Cowboys is an important addition to the team's linebacker corps. The Cowboys were set to prioritize defensive improvements after shortcomings in 2023, and Liufau's versatile skill set and high football IQ will make him a valuable asset on the field.

The 23-year-old LB from Hawaii will compete for playing time alongside seasoned veterans like Damone Clark and DeMarvion Overshown. The former Fighting Irish man will bring a blend of speed, and coverage ability to Mike McCarthy’s team.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 234 pounds, Liufau possesses the physical attributes desired in a modern NFL linebacker. His speed (4.64 secs 40 Time), combined with his aggressive playing style, makes him a damning presence in the front seven.

While Liufau's tackling technique may need refinement, his potential to evolve under the guidance of defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is promising.

Jerry Jones has placed his trust in Zimmer, which sets the stage for Liufau to grab the opportunity and flourish for the Cowboys in the upcoming season.
