"Good to get win against undermanned team": CFB world reacts to Alabama's shutout win against Missouri in Week 9
Alabama Crimson Tide fans had a lot to say after their team’s dominant 34-0 win over the Missouri Tigers in Week 9 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The Missouri football team, under Coach Eli Drinkwitz, was shutout for the first time during his tenure. With their starting quarterback Brady Cook sidelined after a second-quarter injury, the Tigers’ chances took a hit.
Fans shared mixed reactions on social media:
“Good to get win against undermanned team. Offense still bad.”
“Easy to beat a team with no quarterback,” one wrote.
“Bama will lose to LSU. Mizzou had a qb who could only throw a ball to the other team. If cook was in, that game would be a toss up,” another wrote.
“Ugh. I'll take it but still so many mistakes. Fortunate Missouri was on their third QB,” a fan wrote.
“Looks a bit more like BAMA, but lots of work to do!” one wrote.
“Like the W. Still undisciplined play. Not a top 10 team,” another wrote.
The Missouri Tigers (6-2) have yet to beat Alabama (6-2) since 1975. They’ll have a week off before facing Oklahoma at Faurot Field on Nov. 9.
Missouri, currently ranked No. 21, may see this loss affect their College Football Playoff aspirations.
Alabama finally enjoyed a comfortable victory
Alabama played its most complete game since Week 3, cruising to a dominant 34-0 win over Missouri to keep its College Football Playoff dreams alive.
It was a slow start offensively, but the Crimson Tide's defense controlled the field, stifling Missouri’s offense all game. The victory boosts Alabama to 6-2 (3-2 in the SEC), putting them right back in playoff contention.
After Alabama opened with a field goal on its first drive, the game remained close until the late second quarter.
Graham Nicholson’s second field goal, a 39-yarder, gave Alabama a 6-0 edge. Shortly after, a critical interception by Malachi Moore set up a three-yard touchdown run from Jalen Milroe, putting Alabama up 13-0 at halftime.
Missouri’s starting quarterback, Brady Cook, struggled against Alabama’s relentless defense and left the game with a hand injury.
Backup Drew Pyne had no answers, throwing three interceptions before Missouri had to turn to third-stringer JR Blood.
Alabama seized control to start the second half with an 80-yard drive capped by Jalen Milroe’s second touchdown run. Jam Miller and Justice Haynes added more TD runs as Alabama finally enjoyed a comfortable victory.
