"Had to call 911": Travis Hunter's fiancée Leanna gets real about her battles with depression as she opens up about her past relationship

Travis Hunter’s fiancée, Leanna Lenee, has been a glamorous presence during the 2024 college football season game days. In a TikTok Get Ready With Me (GRWM) video shared with her 243.2K followers, she revealed a personal side of her journey.

Leanna opened up about her battles with depression, anxiety, and struggles in a past relationship. Hunter’s better half disclosed that her mental health challenges began during her senior year of high school, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think the person I was with was making me really anxious," Leanna said. "And the things I was participating in, like (smoking pot gesture) a lot, because that's all the person I was at the time did, and so I Kind of fell into it. Obviously I started before him, but with him it made me anxious."

"This anxiety led to severe panic attacks, often requiring emergency medical attention. " It got to a point where I would hyperventilate so much, to a point where I would have to call 911 and go to the hospital because I couldn't breathe. And it got to a point where I didn't want to do anything. I didn't wanna go anywhere. Anywhere I went, I would panic, and just crying, and have a really bad anxiety attack," she added.

After Leanna’s relationship ended, her anxiety subsided, and she stopped taking medication. However, her depression worsened during her first semester of college.

“I was so depressed in first semester of freshman year," Leanna said. "I think anyone who knows me during that time, I was not a good person. I didn't want to do anything with anyone. I wanted to be in my room 24x7. I didn't want to be around anybody. I was really mean.”

“I just was really depressed. You separate yourself when you're depressed and I don't think the people I was with at the time understood that, and it caused me to lose so many friends...,” she continued.

Despite the darkness, Leanna’s story is one of hard-fought battles.
