"He's a below .500 coach without (Tom) Brady": CFB Insider slams Bill Belichick as he makes his demands clear for joining a college program

Bill Belichick has been a topic of discussion among college football fans this week. The eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach is reportedly in contention to take the vacant coaching job at North Carolina. However, college football analyst Trevor McCue has provided a few reasons why UNC and every other college football team should avoid Belichick.

Belichick made an appearance on Monday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show" and outlined his plans and demands "if" he took over a college program. A video clip of his comments went viral on social media and McCue shared his thoughts on why Belichick isn't an ideal candidate to coach at the collegiate level.

"Belichick’s last several drafts were horrific. He’s a below .500 coach without Brady. Dude is 72. What are we doing here?" McCue tweeted.

Belichick coached the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2023 and won six Super Bowls with Tom Brady as his quarterback. He also coached the Cleveland Browns from 1991 to 1995. Belichick won two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator with the New York Giants.

Notably, Belichick has an 83-104 record (.449 win percentage) without Brady as his QB. After Brady left the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, the signal-caller won another Super Bowl.

However, Belichick had an underwhelming 29-39 record with New England after Brady's departure. He parted ways with the Patriots after the 2023 season.

Bill Belichick talked about his meeting with UNC officials on Sunday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show." The legendary coach then explained his hypothetical plans to make his college program appealing to top talents in the country, which would lead to an influx in the NFL.

"The college program would be a pipeline to the NFL for the players that have the ability to play in the NFL," Belichick said. "It would be a professional program. Training, nutrition, scheme, coaching, techniques that would transfer to the NFL. It would be an NFL program at a college level and an education that would get the players ready for their career after football."

Per reports, Belichick has been tipped to succeed Mack Brown at UNC. However, there are still some uncertainties on whether a coach of Belichick's caliber and age would coach at the collegiate level.
