"He's a baller, shot-caller and a boss": Deion Sanders bares his soul while crediting Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark amid conference realignment

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders waxed lyrical about Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark during the conference's Media Day 2 on Wednesday. Coach Prime acknowledged Yormark's efforts in expanding the Big 12 to 16 teams.

Upon taking center stage during his press conference at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Sanders gave a special shoutout to Yormark.

"This is unbelievable. Brett, you did the doggone thing, I think we have the best commissioner in football. He’s a baller, shot-caller and a boss," Sanders said.

The Big 12 has had eight members join the conference in the past two years. In 2023, BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF joined the league. Meanwhile, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah left the Pac-12 to join the Big 12 this year.

However, it's important to note that two powerhouses, the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns, left the Big 12 to join the Southeastern Conference this year.

On Tuesday, during the Big 12's Media Day 1, Yormak said that his conference has established itself as a top-three conference in the country. He also pointed out that the Big 12 is open to further expansion.

“The Big 12 is exploring all options. Two years later, I guess you could say we’re still open for business,” Yormark said.

Deion Sanders was appointed as the head coach of Colorado in December 2022. He joined the team after posting a 27–6 record across three seasons with Jackson State.

In his first season with the Buffaloes in 2023, Sanders led Colorado to a 4-8 record. The Buffaloes had a strong start under Coach Prime, going 3-0 in the season's opening weeks, but struggled to maintain the same momentum for the remainder of the campaign.

Sanders will want to lead Colorado to a winning season in 2024, as the program returns to the Big 12.
