"He’s ferocious. He’s fast": Ashton Jeanty's Heisman contention gets huge praise from CFB insider before Week 7
Ashton Jeanty is the new superstar who’s wreaking havoc in the 2024 season. The Boise State running back has been putting up numbers that have him in serious Heisman Trophy contention.
FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt believes Jeanty's Heisman run isn’t just hype—it’s possible. At 5-foot-9, he has been the Broncos’ best player. Spencer Danielson’s team is second in the Mountain West with a 4-1 overall record and 1-0 in conference.
“He’s averaging 206 rushing yards per game," Klatt said on The Joel Klatt Show. "He’s got 16 touchdowns in five games. That is a staggering amount. And oh by the way, he’s running it for almost 11 yards per carry. I mean, like, it’s insane.”
Klatt couldn’t stop himself from hyping up the 20-year-old Florida native.
“Please go watch Ashton Jeanty," Klatt added. "It is an absolute joy. He runs with power. He’s ferocious. He’s fast. He’s got great balance. He did it against Oregon. He’s been doing it against everybody.” [23:03]
If Jeanty continues at this pace, he’s on track to break Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record of 2,628 yards. Klatt believes that while Jeanty faces a Group of Five schedule, his dominance on the field is undeniable.
