Heisman Trophy Odds after Week 10: Cam Ward rising while Ashton Jeanty makes serious case
The Week 10 slate of college football matchups has come and gone, and the Heisman Trophy race is heating up with every passing week. The Heisman odds rankings saw some movement after a chaotic weekend of college football, as the final shape of the race starts to take shape entering the final stretch of the regular season.
Here are the updated Heisman Trophy odds rankings after Week 10 of college football, with five weeks remaining until conference championship week.
Heisman Trophy odds after Week 10
Cam Ward, Miami (FL) (+185)
Cam Ward has gradually risen to the top of the Heisman odds rankings with a consistent high level of play in Miami's undefeated campaign entering Week 11. In the Hurricanes' dominant 53-31 win over Duke, Ward completed 25 of 41 passes for 400 yards, five touchdowns and an interception.
Ward is top-three in passing yards, passing touchdowns and passer rating (minimum 200 attempts) and has led his team to a 9-0 record.
Travis Hunter, Colorado (+185)
Despite an off week for the Colorado Buffaloes, Travis Hunter has risen to the top spot of the Heisman odds rankings, alongside Cam Ward, performing at an All-American level on both sides of the ball this season.
Hunter has notched 60 receptions for 757 yards and eight touchdowns through eight games offensively, as well as 21 tackles, one for loss, seven passes defended and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
Dillon Gabriel, Oregon (+350)
Dillon Gabriel's Heisman Trophy odds have dropped this week, but that's not due to his play. In Oregon's 9-0 campaign through Week 10, Gabriel has performed as one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
In the Ducks' matchup versus Michigan, the Oregon quarterback completed 22 of 34 passes for 294 yards and two total touchdowns, furthering his case in the Heisman race.
In nine games, he ranks in the top 10 among FBS quarterbacks in passing yards, completion percentage and passer rating (minimum 200 attempts).
Ashton Jeanty, Boise State (+500)
Like Dillon Gabriel, Ashton Jeanty's slide in the Heisman Trophy odds rankings is no fault of his play on the field and has more to do with the stiff competition in the race.
Jeanty added to what's been a historic pursuit of Barry Sanders' single-season rushing record in Boise State's win over San Diego State. He took his 33 touches for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Jeanty is leading the nation in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and yards per carry (minimum 50 attempts).
