"Hitting like my last breakup": OU fans left heartbroken as Jackson Arnold enters transfer portal after struggle-filled season

ESPN reported that the Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold has decided to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday. Arnold was a five-star recruit but has underperformed this season, passing for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Sooners (6-6, 2-6 SEC) finished 13th in the Southeastern Conference.

Oklahoma fans voiced their heartache over Arnold's departure on X (formerly Twitter).

"TS hitting like my last breakup," a fan said.
"Expected really he should leave go be great somewhere else," a fan commented.

Some fans debated about coach Brent Venables' coaching and speculated on the program's future under new offensive leadership:

"Go do good Arnold🫡," another fan said.
"If he does good at his next program and the OU qb does not, Venables is gonna be under fire again for running off a good qb," another tweeted.
"Wish him well. JA did stand up & support Littrell for OC. Season was a disaster so never was able to see 5 star talent from him. Sometimes too much water under the bridge eh! Anyway Hawkins as a dual threat QB may excel under OC Arbuckle.@SoonerScoop#Sooners@OU_Football," a fan commented.

Jackson Arnold's potential landing spots

Speculation is swirling online about Jackson Arnold's potential landing spot. If Garrett Nussmeier heads to the NFL next year and Ricki Collins enters the transfer portal, Arnold could suit for LSU next season.

Another possibility is Alabama, with Jalen Milroe expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft. Here's what Jackson Arnold said shortly before entering the transfer portal.

"Yeah, look, only God knows what's going to happen in the future," he told the reporters on Saturday. "I'm just, this next week, you know, just meet the OC, see who we hire, take it day by day. But, there's nothing making me want to leave or nothing making me waver from being here."

With the transfer portal opening on Monday, it remains to be seen where the young QB will land.
