"How are you gonna take my shine" - Travis Hunter hilariously starts a 'beef' with Coach Prime's grandson
Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter shook off his injury woes during the Buffs' 34-23 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in Week 9. Hunter reinserted himself into the Heisman Trophy race with his performance, where he registered 153 yards on nine carries, resulting in two touchdowns.
Off the field, Hunter had a playful exchange involving Coach Prime's grandson, Baby Snow, and his firstborn daughter, Deiondra Sanders. In a clip shared on "Well Off Media's" Instagram page, the two-way star was having some fun with Deiondra, who was pushing an empty stroller.
"I'm about to jack that baby up, he's taking my shine, how are you gonna take my shine? He's getting jacked up when I see him," Hunter said.
Travis Hunter shares close bond with the Sanders family
Travis Hunter and Deion Sanders share a special bond that began when the then five-star prospect opted to de-commit from Florida State to join Coach Prime at Jackson State, an FCS program, in 2021, despite his pedigree. When the charismatic coach took the Colorado Buffaloes job ahead of last season, he took with him his two sons (Shilo and Shedeur) and Hunter.
Hunter and Coach Prime often go fishing together and during a news conference from earlier in the season, the Buffs coach described his close relationship with the two-way star.
“We talk about everything,” Sanders said. "He’s (Hunter) a good human being, he’s not smoking, not drinking, not outside whoring, not doing crazy things. He’s got one of the highest GPAs on the team, he’s a great human being, and he can play, his character is second to none. That’s why I don’t mind fishing with him. And he coming to Texas.
"And we’re not talking about fishing on the boat, although we talk junk to each other all the time, but we’re talking about life. We’re talking about the next move. We talk about land acquisition. We’re talking about so many different things of life, fathering, you know, loving, how the family plays a role in all of this. So it’s just a delight to have caught him coming straight out of high school.”
In an interview with USA TODAY, Travis Hunter succinctly summarized his relationship with Coach Prime.
“I have the best coach (Coach Prime),” Hunter said. “He is out on the field, teaching me new things every day, and I love having him as a mentor.”
Travis Hunter also has a close relationship with Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, whom he plays with for Colorado after building a relationship as Jackson State players.
