“I cried 8x”: Carson Beck’s mom Tracy shares emotional reaction to thrilling Georgia-Georgia Tech showdown

Carson Beck and the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs (10-2, 6-2 SEC) gave fans at Sanford Stadium a night to remember on Friday. The Bulldogs secured a 44-42 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a nail-biting, record-breaking eight-overtime thriller.

The first half by the Bulldogs was abysmal. They fell behind 17-0, and Beck looked out of bounds. The Bulldogs were outmatched by their underdog rivals for much of the game. However, the Georgia QB composed himself in the second half and came up clutch for the Bulldogs, a comeback to secure the 44-42 win on a Friday night in Athens.

For Carson Beck’s mom, Tracy, the emotional roller-coaster was almost too much to handle. Sharing her reaction on Instagram, she posted a game graphic reading:

“8 OVERTIMES. MOST IN UGA HISTORY. SECOND MOST IN CFB HISTORY”

Georgia-Georgia Tech matchup ft. Carson Beck

The whole of the Georgia-Georgia Tech game saw two very different sides of the Georgia QB. In the first half, Beck looked like he had forgotten to play football, while in the second half, Beck was in a league of his own.

Beck sparked the Georgia comeback with a third-quarter touchdown pass to Oscar Delp, and from there on, the Bulldogs never looked back. With 5:36 left in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs faced a certain defeat, trailing 27-13.

However, the 22-year-old QB had different plans. A clutch throw to Dominic Lovett tied the game at 27-27 with just over a minute remaining. In those high-pressure moments, the Yellow Jacket faltered, thanks to a crucial forced fumble by Georgia defensive back, Dan Jackson.

Overtime was a war of attrition. Beck connected with Dillon Bell and Cash Jones in tight moments and forced overtime after overtime. Describing the series of overtimes, Smart said after the game,

"It was a battle of adversity"

Both teams traded blows through eight exhausting periods. Finally, Nate Frazier’s two-point rush sealed the victory.
