“I don’t care what anybody says": $1.9M NIL-valued Drew Allar issues blunt message to critics after facing hate
Drew Allar, the highly-valued Penn State quarterback with a $1.9 million NIL deal per On3, didn’t hold back when addressing critics. This was after his team’s 38-10 win over the SMU Mustangs in the NCAAF Playoffs at Beaver Stadium.
The victory not only secured the Nittany Lions a spot in the Fiesta Bowl but also marked head coach James Franklin’s 100th career win at Penn State.
Speaking during the post-game press conference, Allar was quick to defend Franklin, who often finds himself the target of online criticism.
“Coach Franklin gets a lot of criticism that’s undeserved,” Allar said. “He’s done a lot more than people give him credit for. It’s special to be a part of his 100th win here and be the team that was able to deliver it to him.
“To have on it a stage like the playoffs and at home in Beaver Stadium, it’s truly special.”
As for the personal criticism he faces, Allar showed a level of maturity well beyond his years.
“I don’t care what anybody says about me or my team or my coach,” Allar said. “At the end of the day, our process is our process. The only opinions that matter are the ones in the Lasch building.”
Penn State’s victory not only silenced doubters but also set the stage for a high-stakes showdown. The Nittany Lions will face No. 3 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl next Saturday, Dec. 31, in Glendale, Arizona.

Earlier, Drew Allar defended James Franklin against critics following Penn State’s stunning victory over USC
Earlier in October, Drew Allar defended James Franklin against critics following Penn State’s stunning victory over USC. Both Allar and Franklin have faced similar scrutiny throughout their journey together.
Allar remarked during a post-game interview in Los Angeles after the Nittany Lions’ narrative-shifting win:
“He has built this thing from the ground up,” Allar said.
According to Nittany Central, in another interview, Allar reflected on the pressure of high expectations:
“There’s no one harder on myself than me,” he said.
Meanwhile, Allar emotionally said after leading the Nittany Lions to victory over USC:
“People have no idea the amount of work we put in, that Coach Franklin puts in,” Allar said. “The people that bash online have no idea.”
As of the 2024 season, Allar’s stats speak for themselves: 3,021 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a QBR of 80.5, ranking him 12th overall.
