"I don’t really care": Oregon HC Dan Lanning downplays gaming hype but orders EA Sports College Football 25 for kids and players
Dan Lanning is not a huge gamer, according to himself. However, the Oregon Ducks coach did order a copy of EA's newest game, College Football 25. Lanning said while he might not play much of the game, he bought a copy for his kids and players to have something to do when they come over to his house.
Here's what he said in a press conference on Monday:
“Just ask, I mean, I’m not a gamer. I don’t really care that much about it. I say that. I mean, I did just order it the other day on Amazon, so I’m not gonna be playing it, but my kids might be playing it.
“So I just want something over the house and the players when they come over, they can play the game, but it should be fun. Certainly some excitement around that game.”
If gamers want to take on Dan Lanning's job, the Oregon Ducks come in as the second-best team in College Football 25 with a rating of 93 (tied with Georgia). Lanning is stepping into his third season as the coach of the Eugene school, chasing a national title while transitioning to its new conference, the Big Ten.
Dan Lanning on why he stayed in Oregon during the offseason
During a Monday interview with Fox Sports' Joel Klatt, Dan Lanning addressed the reasons that made him stay in Oregon during the entire offseason. It seems that the reasons were sentimental, more than anything else:
“Well I think it’s more about what exists here, and for me, you know, it’s the first time in my career I feel like I’m somewhere where I could be for a really, really long time for my family. And that’s probably No. 1, right?
“My kids have lived in eight states. I also can never take for granted that Oregon took a chance on me and that means a lot to me. And there’s things that I want to accomplish here that I haven’t accomplished yet.
“I feel indebted to this program and the people that support this program that I want to be able to get down and create here. So I never like leaving a place where I feel like there’s more left on the table and there’s a lot left on the table here at Oregon.”
Despite what other people might have been thinking, there wasn't any football reasoning behind Dan Lanning's decision. He just stayed home because he felt at ease in the state.
