"I just threw to Malik Nabers": Shedeur Sanders throws shade at his QB coach during hilarious banter between the duo
Shedeur Sanders shared some hilarious banter with his throwing coach Darrell Colbert Jr. before the Heisman award ceremony. Sanders and Colbert were in a hotel room when they got into a comical argument.
In a YouTube video posted by Walk Off Media on Sunday, Colbert was heard telling Sanders that he was more of an ACC quarterback than the Colorado star. Sanders, who was recently named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, didn't waste any time in responding to his QB coach.
"No, you're not." Sanders clapped back at Colbert. "I just threw to Malik Nabers." [Timestamp: 6:15]
Sanders was referring to the viral video from a few days ago, which showed him and New York Giants wideout Nabers engaging in a friendly game of catch in the bustling streets of NYC.
The video clip also sparked rumors that the Giants could make a move for Sanders in the 2025 NFL draft. The New York team needs a starting quarterback who can lead the offense and be relied upon.
Colbert, on the other hand, deserves a lot of praise for the work he has done with Sanders. The two worked together in the offseason, and the Colorado quarterback has reaped the rewards this year.
Along with being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Sanders also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. The CU star completed the regular season with 3,926 passing yards, 35 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions, and four rushing touchdowns.
Shedeur Sanders will play his final game for Colorado in 2024 Alamo Bowl
Shedeur Sanders is likely to play his final game for Colorado when the Buffs take on the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. The game will take place in Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Sanders, who played two years at Jackson State before transferring to Colorado in 2022, is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft. Many believe the CU star will get picked early in the first round.
