"I'm dad as well as Coach": Deion Sanders keeps Shedeur Sanders grounded with critical assessment despite heroic performances
Deion Sanders is keeping his son, Shedeur Sanders, grounded after his impressive performance during Saturday's 38-31 win over Baylor.
Shedeur threw for 341 yards, completing 25 of 41, and registered two touchdowns. His dramatic last-second hail mary to LaJohntay Wester forced overtime. The CFB world praised his latest effort.
However, to balance the 22-year-old's ego, Coach Prime pointed out a slight flaw his son showed during the Buff's 3-1 start. He said:
"Shedeur has played great except for one pass. That’s it. He’s been consistently Shedeur except for one pass. Everybody on the team feels that way. I’m pleased with him. I’m critical because I’m dad as well as coach."
The Colorado Buffaloes face UCF this weekend as the team continues riding the arm of its elite signal caller.

Shedeur Sanders discusses "the pass" to LaJohntay Wester
The Colorado QB gave fans and critics a clutch moment in the game against Baylor to talk about – his "Hail Mary" pass to LaJohntay Wester. Sanders launched the desperate pass toward the end zone in the final seconds, and Wester latched onto it just inches from the ground.
On his podcast 2Legendary, Sanders talked about the game-changing moment alongside teammate Jimmy Horn Jr.
“I felt the closing seconds like the DN or something got through the line of scrimmage, and he was chasing me. I was already hurt. I was sold on your touchdown. And then in the final second, I threw it up in like an area, and then that was it, and Tay made it happen.”
Horn Jr. even admitted he thought Shedeur had been sacked. Yet, Sanders, who was sacked 52 times last season, has improved significantly since the 2023 college football season. After each game, Shedeur Sanders and his teammates prove they are ready to compete with the best.
