"I quit football": Baby Gronk makes a bold decision to become one of the "Island Boys"
Madden San Miguel, better known as Baby Gronk, has hung up his football cleats to pursue another career. The viral youth football prospect made the announcement on Instagram after linking up with hip-hop duo, the Island Boys.
In the above video, one of the twins carved out an imprint on San Miguel's hair. They then sang the duo's most popular song, "I'm an Island Boy".
It remains to be seen whether San Miguel is legit about his new career path or whether it's yet another gimmick to boost his social media following and clout.
What college is Baby Gronk attending?
According to on3.com, Baby Gronk is part of the 2031 recruitment class. However, that hasn't stopped the viral social media star from fortnightly flipping recruitments from top colleges.
As recently as June 2024, Bleacher Report reported that San Miguel has given his pledge to Oklahoma, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Penn State, Clemson, Texas Tech, Washington and Texas A&M. He has visited the facilities of some of these programs and met with top decision makers.
However, it's important to note that all these "commitments" are unofficial, as San Miguel, 11, is not eligible to give any official pledge. Furthermore, On3's recruiting database says that he hasn't received any collegiate football offers.
What has Rob Gronkowski said about Baby Gronk?
Last year, Will Compton and Taylor Lewan of Bussin’ With The Boys asked Rob Gronkowski about his thoughts on the "Baby Gronk phenomenon" and his opinionated father.
The future Hall of Famer stated that San Miguel's dad beeped his phone about 500 times. Gronkowski found it annoying and decided not to have anything to do with him.
“My brother was like, ‘Yo, did you see Baby Gronk yet?’ Gronkowski said. ‘I was like, ‘Did I see him?’ His dad f***ing hit me up 500 times already. Don’t do anything with him. The dad is so annoying.”
Gronkowski also added that he had gotten information that the father had done similar things to other people, persistently calling and texting until he got a response.
“And this was like five, six weeks ago," he added. "And then all of a sudden two weeks later, it’s coming out everywhere (that his Dad has messaged countless people on social media). Me and my brother are dying laughing. It’s to the point where it’s awkward. It’s too far.
Hence, the legendary tight end contemplated sending a cease and desist order to ensure that such unwarranted attention is ceased immediately.
