"I want the Giants to suck again next year": CFB insider drops eye-catching remark on Arch Manning amid Giants' decision to bench Daniel Jones

Will Arch Manning follow in the footsteps of his uncle Eli Manning? The New York Giants are in the midst of yet another poor season, courtesy in part of quarterback Daniel Jones. They have a 2-8 overall record and sit at the bottom of the NFC East.

Jones has an overall record of 24-44-1 with the team. Although the Giants' fate isn't only down to him, ever since the retirement of Eli Manning, the team has been going nowhere slowly.

Enter Eli's nephew Arch Manning, who despite not even being the starter for Texas yet is already being touted as the next big thing. Arch took center stage for a couple of weeks this year following an injury to starting signal-caller Quinn Ewers, and he caught a lot of attention during that time.

Some already think he could be the salvation of the 2026 Giants. One of those is Barstool Sports's Tommy Smokes, who tweeted the following:

"At this point I just want the Giants to suck again next year so we can get Arch Manning in 2026. I can handle another losing season, it’s expected at this point. I don’t even care how good he is, he’s a Manning and the prince who was promised!"

That's quite a burden to put on Manning's shoulders. However, being the nephew of two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, he's probably used to it by now. What's certain is that any team would be lucky to get a player half as valuable as either of his famous uncles.

Arch Manning's numbers in 2024 for Texas

So far in 2024, Arch Manning has 939 passing yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions for the Texas Longhorns. His QBR, which stands at 80.1, is better than Quinn Ewers (70.8). However, we have to take into account that Manning's sample size is much smaller.

The bulk of those yards came against UTSA (the game in which he replaced Ewers due to injury), UL Monroe and Mississippi State. Although all the games ended in victory, none of those schools are highly regarded.
