"If I don't make this block, my mama would not eat today": Coach Prime has dramatic analogy to motivate lineman before CSU face-off

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders lost to Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. What stung the most was the offensive line, who, despite the additions in the offseason, couldn't stop Nebraska's secondary from making inroads, sacking and hurrying quarterback Shedeur Sanders multiple times.

Now that the Buffs are moving on and next play the Colorado State Rams this Saturday, he motivated his lineman with a powerful speech in the locker room, the video of which has gone viral on Instagram.

"A lineman should feel like, if I don't make this block, my mama won't eat. If I don't make this block, my mama would not eat today. She gonna starve," Coach Prime said.

A defensive stalwart himself during his playing days, Deion Sanders, who has won two Super Bowls, shared the mentality a lineman should have before each snap. It remains to be seen what transpires when CSU hosts the Buffaloes in the Rocky Mountain Showdown rivalry.

Coach Prime Deion Sanders instills confidence in his Colorado boys after tough Week 2 defeat

On Saturday, Deion Sanders' unit took an unexpected loss. Although the odds were in favor of Matt Rhule's Nebraska, it wasn't expected to be a blowout defeat, especially in the first half, where the Huskers scored 28 while Shedeur Sanders couldn't get the ball in the red zone.

The energy within the team was seemingly low, as even their signal caller got off the field early and didn't even wait to shake hands. That was when Coach Prime delivered a powerful speech to raise his team's shoulders.

"Everybody’s got something going on. Everybody’s dealing with something in their life, and you’ve got to persevere. You’ve got to overcome it. You’ve got to keep going. You’ve got to keep walking forward," Sanders said.
"You cannot stop when the enemy has a clear shot at you. Just keep going. This is an adverse situation—what are you going to do about it? We’ve got to keep going. You’ve got to keep walking. You’ve got to keep moving. Love y’all, man."

Despite the loss, Deion Sanders wants his team to play positively next time they take the field.

"We just got our butts kicked today, but we’re going to kick some butt. Let’s clean this stuff up, evaluate ourselves, and do some self-reflection on the way back, okay?," Sanders added.
