"If somebody mess up, don't beat his a** down": Maurice Sims urges Deion Sanders' team to build brotherhood within the squad
Colorado Buffaloes' Director of Football Sports Performance, Maurice Sims, wants Deion Sanders' boys to build a brotherhood within the Colorado squad. In a video shared by ‘Well Off Media,' Sims was seen having a chat with the team. He called all the strength coaches in the program his "brothers" and talked about the importance of supporting each other.
The Buffaloes are going through an intense summer practice in the buildup to the 2024 college football season. The team had some glaring holes last season that didn't let them fulfill the promise they had started the year with.
“I got brothers, I got teammates,” Sims said. "All the other strength coaches, I check on them, they check on me. But it's for the same purpose, for the same goal so that we can climb and bring our brothers with us. If somebody mess up, don't beat their a*s down. Get them right, say like man come on get on with it, but don't beat them down.” [12:04]
Sims has been with Deion Sanders since his stint with Jackson State and came to Boulder shortly after December 2022. He was previously a part of Kirby Smart's staff in Georgia and helped the Bulldogs win the 2021 national title.
Deion Sanders gets Colorado squad in swimming pool for an intense session
Summer training sessions started in Boulder last month. Deion Sanders recently put his team through an intense workout in the swimming pool to build their core strength. Those who weren't in the pool occupied the sides, doing pushups and other exercises.
Some athletes were also seen using gym cycles on the upper deck. Here is a clip of the training session:
Sanders is trying to build up his squad again after a humbling debut season in Boulder. The team had started the 2023 season well, winning the first three games. But they fell off a cliff after that and ended the season with a 4-8 overall record.
Coach Prime wants to change all that and take the Buffs to the next level. So, every training session is being implemented to prepare the players for everything coming their way this fall.
