The SMU Mustangs stole their fourth win (42-16) of the season in a week 5 matchup against the Florida State Seminoles. Ahead of the game, former President George W. Bush took center stage with his appearance.

Bush tossed the coin at the highly anticipated ACC clash, treating the fans to more than just the ceremonial appearance. Here's a closer look at the moment:

Bush was the 43rd President of the United States and is a widely known sports fan. He owns the Texas Rangers of the MLB. However, he also has a strong connection to Texas, as he was the 46th Governor of the state, serving from 1995-2000. His return made the ACC debut for SMU more memorable.

SMU Mustangs vs. Florida State Seminoles highlights from Week 5

The Mustangs had a great debut against their ACC rivals, the Seminoles. The hosts are in the second position in the conference rankings, while their opponents trail at the 11th spot following the loss.

Mustangs Quarterback Kevin Jennings stole the show, throwing for a career-high three touchdowns, including a 42-yard flea-flicker to Jordan Hudson.

He went 16 for 23 passes for 254 yards with a completion rate of 69.6%. The team’s defense shined as well, with Kobe Wilson returning an interception 82 yards for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, FSU's DJ Uiagalelei registered a completion rate of 40% with 12 out of 30 passes for 222 yards. The first quarter ended with both teams tying at seven points each.

The following quarter yielded seven points for the Mustangs as Jordan Hudson catched a 42-yard pass from QB Jennings. The last quarter began with a 28-16 score line as the winning quarterback delivered two 11-yard and 15-yard passes to RJ Maryland.

It was a perfect ACC debut for SMU and Jennings highlighted how the jampacked stadium reflected the high spirit of the Dallas fans.
