Iowa State Cyclones Transfer Portal Tracker 2024-25: List of players leaving Matt Campbell's Cyclones 

The Iowa State Cyclones had a strong season as they finished the regular season with a 10-3 record, including a 7-2 mark in Big 12 play. Things fell apart late for the Cyclones as they won just three of their final six games after a 7-0 start. Each of those three losses came in conference play, including a 45-19 blowout loss in the Big 12 Championship Game to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

With the transfer portal now officially open, several players have already announced their intention to change programs.

Here's a closer look at which Iowa State players are among that group, as per 247Sports.com.

#1. JJ Kohl, Quarterback

JJ Kohl joined the Iowa State Cyclones as a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He appeared in just four games, throwing for 23 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Kohl completed 9-of-11 pass attempts while adding 32 rushing yards on six carries. He announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.

#2. AJ Burton, Offensive Lineman

AJ Burton joined the Cyclones as a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He did not see the field during his lone season with the program. Burton announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.

#3. Kenard Snyder, Defensive End

Kenard Snyder initially joined the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks as a three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He appeared in 24 games, recording 121 total tackles, 60 of which were solo tackles, 25.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two passes defended.

Snyder joined the Cyclones via the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season. He appeared in 10 games in his lone season with the program, recording eight total tackles, six of which were solo tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Snyder announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 10.

#4. Trent Jones II, Defensive End

Trent Jones II joined Iowa State as an unranked walk-on prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He has appeared in 24 games, recording 26 total tackles, 10 of which were solo tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and one forced fumble. Jones announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.

#5. Jacob Ellis, Linebacker

Jacob Ellis initially joined the Iowa Western Community College Reivers as an unranked prospect in the 2019 recruiting class. After three seasons at the junior college level, he joined the Cyclones ahead of the 2022 season.

He appeared in 19 games over his three seasons with the program, recording 56 total tackles, 21 of which were solo tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks and one fumble recovery. Ellis announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 11.

#6. Ryan Robinson Jr., Cornerback

Ryan Robinson Jr. initially joined the LSU Tigers as a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He appeared in four games, recording three total tackles, one of which was a solo tackle. Robinson Jr. joined Iowa State via the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season. He did not see the field during his lone season with the program and announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.

#7. Trevon Howard, Safety

Trevon Howard joined the Cyclones as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He appeared in 13 games, recording 26 total tackles, 10 of which were solo tackles and one pass defended. Howard announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.

#8. Drake Knobloch, Long Snapper

Drake Knobloch joined Iowa State as an unranked walk-on prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He appeared in 15 games during his tenure with the program. Knobloch announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.

#9. Keegan Shackford, Kicker

Drake Knobloch joined the Iowa State Cyclones as an unranked walk-on prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He appeared in 25 games during his tenure with the program, connecting on his only extra-point attempt. Shackford announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 9.
