Iowa seeks to improve on its bowl position in a trip to a Maryland team fighting to avoid a losing season.
A solid game from running back Kaleb Johnson and an outstanding performance from kicker Drew Stevens gave Iowa the 29-13 win. Johnson rushed for 164 yards on 35 carries and Stevens made five field goals, including kicks from 49, 50 and 54 yards.
Iowa (7-4, 5-3 in Big Ten) came in off a loss to UCLA, but may have solidified a spot as one of the top Big Ten teams aside from the league's likely quartet of College Football Playoff picks. On the other hand, Maryland (4-7, 1-7 in Big Ten) has lost its last four games and drops from contention for bowl eligibility.

Iowa opened strong, riding Johnson and the kicking game to a 16-0 edge. A two-yard Johnson run sandwiched around a pair of field goals for a 13-0 halftime advantage. Stevens connected on a 54-yard kick just before halftime and added a 50-yarder and a 49-yarder in the third quarter.
Maryland sliced into the lead with a pair of second-half touchdown passes from MJ Morris to Tai Felton. The first covered eight yards and the second covered 12 yards and pulled Maryland within 19-13. The Hawkeyes answered with a long scoring run from Kamari Moulton.
