Is Shilo Sanders playing today? Colorado Buffaloes safety's availability for Week 8 explored

The Colorado Buffaloes are depending on safety Shilo Sanders to elevate their defense in the second half of the 2024 college football season. He suffered an injury last month that has kept him sidelined for the majority of the season thus far. The big question now is whether he will be healthy enough to suit up for their Week 8 road game against the Arizona Wildcats.

Let's take a deeper dive into Shilo Sanders' injury and his status for this Week 8 game.

Is Shilo Sanders playing today?

Ahead of the Week 7 game against the Kansas State Wildcats, coach Deion Sanders made it clear that Shilo would be ready to play.

"Shilo's ready. He's practicing, he's full go. He has a rubber cast on and doing his thing. I can't wait to see him back because he and Cam [Silmon-Craig] are unbelievable together," the coach said.

He did play in that game and hasn't appeared on the injury report this week ahead of Colorado's game against the Arizona Wildcats, meaning all signs are pointing toward the senior safety being on the field for the Buffs.

What happened to Shilo Sanders?

During the game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers back in early September, Shilo suffered a broken right forearm. The injury occurred during the first quarter of the game and required surgery to repair, but he was projected to miss only two to three weeks, which is remarkable given his reputation for quick recovery.

Shilo Sanders 2024 stats

Shilo is looking to make a splash during the 2024 college football season as the senior safety in Colorado's secondary. So far for the Buffs this season, he has recorded 21 total tackles (15 solo, six assisted) but has yet to put up any other statistics.

He led the team in tackles last season and earned All-Pac-12 honors, so if he’s back to full strength, he’s expected to make a significant impact for the rest of the season.
