"Its a much different game": Urban Meyer takes a stance on Bill Belichick's $50M UNC move

Bill Belichick, the former general manager and head coach of the New England Patriots, is now the head coach of the University of North Carolina with a $50 million, 5-year contract. The Tar Heels ended this season with a 6-6 record.

Known for being the coach behind Tom Brady's successful career, Belichick is expected by UNC management to recreate the success of the 2015 season, but this time with a conference win and a playoff chance in sight.

Urban Meyer, former head coach of Ohio State, supports Belichick's move to UNC despite the doubts expressed by Colin Cowherd on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd." Cowherd commented:

"I don't believe that all NFL guys go to college, and it's easy. I don't think Belichick or Bill Parcells, they don't have a lot of charisma. I don't think they're built for college football."

He further added:

"I thought college football was always going to be tough for certain guys. I think Bill's going to get tired of it really quick. He's built a pro model. You know Bill. We know he's smart....But I think, Bill, I think the tedium of college football coaching could wear him out."

In response to this, Meyer said:

"I know Coach very well. Went too many times up to the Patriots, and what amazed me was how smart he was, and he adapts, and he can get things done. It's a much different game than me and you knew, Colin....If there was a time for Coach Belichick to go to college, it's now," Meyer stated.

Meyer has led teams to three national championships: Florida in 2006 and 2008, and Ohio State in 2014. Meyer has won 165 games in his first 15 seasons as head coach. His career record stands at 187-32.
