Jacobian Guillory injury: What happened to LSU DT against Nicholls State?

Jacobian Guillory is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season. The starting defensive tackle for the No.16-ranked LSU Tigers reportedly suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the first quarter of Saturday's 44-21 Week 2 win over the Nicholls State Colonels.

Glen West of 247 Sports reported that the four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class was seen limping, tweeting:

"Jacobian Guillory just limped to the sidelines. He's now being helped by multiple trainers to the injury tent Absolutely can't afford to lose him #LSU"

He later added a follow up that Guillory left the medical tent in a wheelchair with his leg in a cast:

"Jacobian Guillory comes out of the injury tent and is put in a wheelchair. Looks like his leg is wrapped with a cast. Not good at all."

Check out the tweets from Glen West below:

Guillory recorded one total tackle before suffering the season-ending injury. The fifth-year senior has 52 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in his collegiate career. The Tigers return to the field with their first SEC matchup as they visit the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 3.

Jacobian Guillory becomes latest LSU Tigers senior to suffer season-ending injury

Jacobian Guillory is not the only LSU Tigers senior to suffer a season-ending injury over the first two games of the 2024 season. The program announced that running back John Emery Jr. suffered a season-ending torn ACL for the second consecutive year.

The five-star prospect in the 2019 recruiting class had 61 rushing yards on 10 carries while adding one reception for 10 yards in LSU's 27-20 season-opening loss to the USC Trojans. In five seasons, he has recorded 1,123 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 223 carries. The sixth-year senior has added 37 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns.

Both players were expected to play key roles in the final season of their collegiate careers. The Tigers will look elsewhere to replace the production, particularly from Emery Jr. as the rest of their running back room has struggled tremendously over the first two games.
