Jalen Milroe shares excitement on 'expanding his knowledge' under offensive guru Kalen DeBoer: "What a great opportunity"

Quarterback Jalen Milroe will be at the center of Alabama’s attack in the 2024 season. The Crimson Tide will step onto the gridiron under new head coach Kalen DeBoer. After getting Heisman shouts last season, Milroe is thrilled about the opportunity to work under offensive mastermind DeBoer.

In an interview with 247Sports, Milroe shared his excitement, stating:

"The new hire with Coach DeBoer has been awesome. It's been awesome to have him here and have the opportunity to learn and grow as a player and also be around this new phase, in a sense.”
“So what a great opportunity to learn and be around somebody different, and expand my knowledge and be a student of the game."

Milroe also discussed the benefits of having an offensive-minded head coach:

"Coach DeBoer is very intelligent and has a great scheme. It's definitely evident as to why they're so successful on offense no matter where he is."

Kalen DeBoer also praised Milroe for his leadership qualities, lauding his characteristic traits and sense of responsibility.

Spring ball and summer practices have provided Milroe with the perfect environment to get accustomed to the new coaching staff. With a new coach and an eager quarterback, the Tide's 2024 season is set to a memorable one.

Will Alabama leader Jalen Milroe be in Heisman contention?

The Alabama Crimson Tide are gearing up for the 2024 season with their returning starting quarterback, Jalen Milroe, who many believe could be a strong contender for the Heisman Trophy. Milroe's dual-threat capability is a factor that could allow him to put up impressive numbers.

“You’re talking about a guy who could top 45 total touchdowns,” On3’s Jesse Simonton said on "Andy Staples On3" podcast.
“Kalen DeBoer has proven at previous stops that if he has a guy at the quarterback position that has some wheels, he’ll run ’em. And he’ll run ’em a lot. With tailbacks like Justice Haynes and Jamarion Miller, they’re gonna be a team that leans on that big offensive line,” Jesse added.

Simonton further explained that if Milroe continues to develop, his numbers might be too good for other contenders.
