Jalon Daniels' Stats Tonight: Kansas QB's stats, pivotal moments and more
Kansas Jayhawks senior quarterback Jalon Daniels threw two interceptions against the UNLV Rebels on Friday. Though his running game was on point, rushing to the endzone twice, his passing left a lot to be desired as the Kansas Jayhawks suffered a 23-20 loss at home.
He threw for 153 yards and two interceptions, completing 12-of-24 pass attempts. Meanwhile, on 11 carries, he rushed for 65 yards and two scores.
Jalon Daniels' pivotal moments in the game
Jalon Daniels got the game going for the Jayhawks as he rushed for an 11-yard touchdown to give his team an early 7-0 lead. During this drive, he took his team 81 yards downfield off 12 snaps.
In the second quarter, he had a 33-yard rush into the red zone, giving the Jayhawks a 14-3 lead.
The third and fourth quarters were barren for the quarterback as his inability to drive the ball downfield consistently and find the endzone proved costly.
Daniels also threw two interceptions, to Jalen Catalon and Jackson Woodard, in the second and third quarters, respectively.
Jalon Daniels' offensive woes continued
Jalon Daniels had one of the worst games of his career last week as the Jayhawks took a beating from the Illinois Fighting Illini. Daniels threw three interceptions against two touchdowns. He passed for 141 yards on 18-of-32 attempts. His 10 rush attempts resulted in 35 yards (via Kansas City Star):
“There were a lot of mistakes I made on the field,” Daniels said after the 23-17 loss. “I didn’t put my team in a great position at all. And a lot of the decisions I made are throws I wish I had back, and I just have to do a better job of being able to put my team in a better position to be able to win the game.”
Jayhawks coach Lance Leipold has now seen his team suffer two consecutive losses. The senior quarterback hasn't been on top of his game, raising questions over his starting spot.
The Jayhawks, who have dropped to 1-2, need to regroup ahead of next week's clash with West Virginia.
