"Jerry Jones won't hire him": NFL analyst makes his stance clear on Deion Sanders' future as Cowboys rumors intensify
As the Dallas Cowboys' season continues to implode, speculation runs rampant about the possibility of Deion Sanders joining them in 2025. The former player-turned-coach experienced a highly successful period with them in the 90s, which included a Super Bowl win in 1996. For some, this would be a match made in heaven for Jerry Jones.
However, sports analyst Jake Crain is not one of those who believe Sanders would be a good fit for the Cowboys. He put it in simply during an appearance on talkSPORTS's "End Zone" on Wednesday.
"Jerry Jones won’t hire him because Deion is a bigger name than Jerry,” Crain said.
Crain said he sees Deion Sanders more as an NFL coach than a college one, and he feels Coach Prime would prefer to coach at a higher level. Crain also said he doesn't see Sanders at the collegiate level once his sons turn professional.
Jason Whitlock believes Deion Sanders is exactly what the Cowboys need
Despite being a detractor of Deion Sanders, Jason Whitlock admitted that Coach Prime is what the Dallas Cowboys need. His reasoning was exactly the opposite of Jake Crain's.
On Tuesday's episode of his "Fearless" podcast, he said Dallas needs Sanders because his star persona would eclipse Jerry Jones's.
He even put Sanders above Bill Belichick on the list of who would make a better Cowboys coach:
"Great coach, maybe the greatest coach in football history.... but he would not make Jerry Jones any less relevant. He would not be any competition for Jerry Jones's post-game news conference, and Jerry Jones's ability to always center himself as the focus of attention in that organization." (0:50 - 1:15)
There's also been much speculation regarding the possibility of the Cowboys getting a pick high enough for them to select Shedeur Sanders, thus enticing his father to join them.
