Joel Klatt picks his winner in the heavyweight clash between Alabama & Georgia
Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt has given his pick for the much-anticipated showdown between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs. This weekend's clash between No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama carries high stakes, with the SEC Championship still on the line, as Klatt emphasized.
The analyst revealed his picks for Week 5 of the College Football season, sharing his thoughts via The Joel Klatt Show.
According to a tweet from Sidelines Bama, Klatt has picked Alabama to beat Georgia on Saturday.
"I told you that the key was Georgia being able to create and hit on the explosives when they potentially arrive, and yet I have no evidence that they're going to be able to do that, so I'm riding with the tide,” Klatt said on his The Joel Klatt Show. [Timestamp - 17:13]
Klatt believes Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe will shine, predicting a tight game with Alabama:
“I think Alabama wins, (Jalen) Milroe plays well, and I think Alabama wins a classic, a tight ball game, and it's going to be 24-21 at home. Bama wins and covers.”
He added that despite Georgia being a 2.5-point favorite, Alabama’s home-field advantage is significant — they’ve only lost twice in their last 61 home games.
However, Georgia has struggled against Alabama, going 1-3 since 2020, while dominating every other opponent with a 52-1 record.
It’s going to be a classic battle, but Klatt is confident Alabama will cover the spread and grab the win.
Joel Klatt’s thoughts on Kalen DeBoer
Joel Klatt also shared his thoughts on Kalen DeBoer facing Georgia, calling it a pivotal moment for Alabama. On his show's Wednesday episode, Klatt emphasized that DeBoer is under pressure to win because of the legacy Nick Saban left at Alabama, particularly their success against Georgia.
“I think Kalen needs to win this game because, if he (DeBoer) doesn’t, it’s a clear step backwards and that’s not a program that wants to take a clear step backwards,” Klatt Said [H/t On3].
If DeBoer leads Alabama to victory at home, Klatt sees it as a huge opportunity for both the coach and the team, with the potential to reshape the narrative entirely. It would also make them the favorite for the SEC championship.
