"Just being an African American Quarterback": Shedeur Sanders has candid reaction to being allegedly treated differently as Coach Prime's son

Being the sons of Deion Sanders comes with unexpected pressure and scrutiny, as both his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, would know. Both enjoy massive popularity on social media, but, as per Shedeur, there's more than just being Coach Prime's son.

During a conversation with Robert Griffin III, the Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo and quarterback Shedeir shared their reaction when asked if the "Sanders" nametag mesns they're treated differently.

“You gotta to be great to be good,” Shilo said.

Shedeur Sanders said that being an African American quarterback gets him in a different light alone.

“I just accept the reality with everything and just not just being his son, just being an African American Quarterback," Shedeur said. "That’s a double whammy right there because we both have different flashes of him in how we are as people. I’m more into cars, jewelry and the flashy stuff … but that persona you may see that’s not really who I am.
"I’m just a normal guy, I just like nice things. Some people can take that offensively though. Then being an African American Quarterback, it’s not many that do that … it’s a strict narrow line you gotta walk down and be a certain way."

Shedeur Sanders and Coach Prime hail offensive line after Rocky Mountain Showdown

Colorado's offensive line got intense scrutiny after they were unable to protect Shedeur Sanders against Nebraska's defense in Week 2. However, they brought their A-game last week against the Colorado State Rams in the Rocky Mountain Showdown.

They only allowed Shedeur to be sacked once while also creating space for rushers, as 109 rushing yards were the third most in the Deion Sanders era.

“Offensive line was phenomenal,” the coach said. “You guys buried them last week after the game. You didn’t say anything tremendously positive when I think they almost went for 500 yards total offense and we won (against North Dakota State), right?
"Where was the praise and the love? But it was a lot of hate and disdain, and ‘Here we go again. Here we go again.’

Due to the O-Line's efforts, Shedeur Sanders connected for four touchdown passes.

“We all got together and understood, like, we’ve got to do it,” Shedeur said Saturday. “Whenever everybody try to push each other against each other, flip words, do everything like that, and together, we all stayed as a family.
"We’re all as one. So that’s just a good example of knowing the media, regardless of what they try to paint or anything, you can’t put us against each other.”

With a 28-9 win over CSU, the Colorado Buffs have improved to 2-1 and will take on Baylor on Saturday.
