Kansas vs UNLV: Box score, stats and summary feat. Jalon Daniels (Week 3) 

The Kansas Jayhawks hosted the UNLV Rebels in a nail-biting affair at Children's Mercy Park on Friday. Junior quarterback Jalon Daniels was under center for the Jayhawks, while Matthew Sluka took snaps for the Devils.

The Jayhawks were a 9.0-point favorite coming into this game. However, the visiting team put on a show. A late drive saw them take a 23-20 lead, which they sustained as the clock ran out for the Jayhawks.

Kansas vs UNLV Game Summary

Kansas forced UNLV to punt in the opening drive and got the ball. The Jayhawks put up the first score as quarterback Jalon Daniels rushed for an 11-yard touchdown after the team went 81 yards in 12 plays. UNLV made a 38-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3.

A 33-yard run by Daniels extended the Jayhawks' lead to 14-3 with 12:12 left in the second quarter. This was followed by another successful field goal attempt, a 27-yarder, which cut the lead to 14-6.

Kansas added three more to its score after kicker Tabor Allen made a 35-yard field goal. In the dying moments of the second quarter, UNLV finally got the ball in the red zone as signal caller Matthew Sluka threw Jai'Den Thomas a 27-yard touchdown pass. With that, the Rebels got within four as the teams headed into halftime with Kansas leading 17-13.

At the start of the third quarter, the Rebels made a 23-yard field goal and got within one. The Jayhawks responded with a 41-yard field goal from Allen to extend the lead to 20-16 in the fourth quarter.

UNLV took the lead for the first time with 1:51 left in the fourth quarter as Kylin James rushed to the endzone.

They held on to the lead to complete an upset win over the hosts.
