Kristen Saban applauds CFB analyst after she hails Nick Saban's stern take on CFB playoff bracket
Kristen Saban showed her appreciation for Barstool Sports analyst Kayce Smith after she quoted her father Nick Saban's stern take regarding the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket. Smith tweeted Nick's comments from his appearance on ESPN's CFB Selection Show on Saturday and posted a screenshot of her tweet to her Instagram story, tagging Kristen and further praising the former Alabama coach.
On Sunday, Kristen reposted Smith's story on her own Instagram story and reacted with an applauding emoji.
Nick said that he had no qualms with the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket, even though his former team Alabama didn't make the cut.
"The best teams are in the playoff, which I think is most important," Saban said. "No coach should have any complaint about what his circumstances relative to getting into the playoffs or out of the playoff, because they all control their own destiny, and they all had opportunities."
Kalen DeBoer, who replaced Saban as Alabama coach earlier this year, led the Tide to a 9-3 record (5-3 Southeastern Conference) in his first season at the helm. However, the CFP selection committee decided that SMU (11-2, 8-0 ACC) would take the final playoff spot over Alabama.
Nick Saban's daughter Kristen Saban vows not to share anything related to family/football on social media
On Dec. 1, Kristen Saban shared a message on her Instagram story saying that she was stepping away from sharing any of her family or football moments on social media due to hateful messages received about her outfits and walking style.
"It's really disappointing to see such hateful comments from a fan base I thought as friends/family for the last 17 years over an outfit and the way I walk (I have had an Achilles injury/abnormality since birth)," Kristen wrote. "For my own sanity, I am stepping away from sharing anything football/family related. Thank God for retirement."
Kristen often attended Alabama games to support her father Nick, who coached the team for 17 seasons before stepping down from his post earlier this year. Saban won six national titles during his tenure with the Tide.
