"Lane Kiffin hasn't been seen since kickoff": CFB world cheeky after Ohio State fans tease SEC with wild chants during CFP game faceoff

There is no love lost between the Big Ten (or any other conference, for that matter) and the SEC. So after Ohio State rushed to a commanding lead in their College Football Playoff game against Tennessee on Saturday, Buckeye fans didn’t waste the chance to throw shade at the Southeastern Conference.

With the Buckeyes up 38-10 late in the third quarter, home fans exploded into an “S-E-C” chant that could be heard through the broadcast. The Volunteers would eventually lose 42-17.

Tennessee was the second team from the SEC to play in the opening round. Unlike Tennessee, Texas took care of business at home against Clemson, securing a 38-24 win.

As the chant was posted on the College Football Report X account, fans shared their thoughts in the responses.

“Lane Kiffin hasn’t been seen since kickoff,” one fan jabbed at the Ole Miss head coach.

Kiffin took to social media Friday and earlier on Saturday, criticizing the CFP Committee for including the Indiana Hoosiers and SMU Mustangs in the field. The Rebels, along with Alabama and South Carolina, got some consideration to make the field but were ultimately ranked lower.

"The SEC is so biased, so happy the 12 team playoff is here for all the world to see.," another fan said.
"Their fans annoy me, but this is a huge W.," a fan said.

Some fans responded by pointing out the Buckeyes’ poor record against teams from the conference. Ohio State has historically struggled against teams from the Southeast.

"Ohio State is 5-14 against the SEC all time, but that record drops to 2-13 in bowl games," one fan said.
"nice, they have improved to 6-14 !," another fan said.

Big Ten and SEC teams are still in the race for the National Title

Even after the Big Ten and SEC lost one team each in the first round of the College Football Playoff, both conferences still have options to lift the National Championship.

The SEC saw an earlier win by Texas over Clemson. The Longhorns will now face the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Jan. 1. The Georgia Bulldogs advanced straight into the quarterfinals after winning the conference. They will be facing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl.

The Big Ten still has three teams in the competition. They are the only conference to have clinched a spot in the Semifinals, as the Buckeyes will travel to Pasadena to face the top-ranked Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl.

In the other quarterfinal game, the Penn State Nittany Lions will play the Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl. Penn State beat the SMU Mustangs at home to earn their spot in Arizona.

The quarterfinals will be played between Dec 31 and Jan 1.
