The Cardinals got down to business right away. The first offensive drive of the game saw Tyler Shough find Isaac Brown for a 10-yard touchdown to give Louisville a 7-0 lead.
Notre Dame tied the game 7-7 on its first offensive drive, stitching 12 plays for 75 yards that ended with Jeremiyah Love rushing for a 5-yard touchdown.
The Fighting Irish took a 14-7 lead on a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Greathouse and followed it up with a quick stop just before the end of the first quarter. With eight seconds remaining, Notre Dame added seven more points for a 21-7 lead with Riley Leonard rushing for a 4-yard touchdown.
The Cardinals started the second quarter with a quick score as Tyler Shough found Ja'Corey Brooks for a 5-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 21-14. Before the second quarter ended, the Fighting Irish made a 48-yard field goal to take a 24-14 halftime lead.
