"Love you" - Carson Beck's mom shows affection to Georgia QB ahead of Ole Miss showdown
Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck was tabbed to be one of the favorites for the Heisman Trophy this season.
Beck has had a mixed season, occasionally showing flashes of brilliance leading Georgia to a 7-1 record. But more recently, the quarterback has struggled massively, throwing three interceptions against coach Billy Napier's Florida Gators in Week 10 of college football action.
Beck has faced widespread criticism for his form ahead of the Bulldogs' trip to Oxford to play against coach Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels in Week 11 of college football action.
Tracy Beck, the Bulldogs quarterback's mother, showed him some much-needed support on her Instagram stories.
She captioned a graphic of her son:
"Let's GOOOO!" Beck wrote.
"Love you," she added.
Tracy Beck has shown her support for Carson Beck and his sister Kylie Beck, who is a Georgia cheerleader, often hyping her children up on Instagram before and after games.
Beck's mother has also shown a willingness to go on the road whenever the quarterback travels with the Bulldogs and she posted a picture of her journey to Oxford to support her son against Ole Miss in Week 11.
Carson Beck addresses recent struggles
Carson Beck has tallied 2,302 passing yards, resulting in 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season. Last season, he managed 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
During his postgame news conference after the Florida game, Beck spoke about his recent struggles explaining why he has thrown more interceptions this season compared to last season.
“It’s an in-game, decision-making thing,” Beck said. “There’s times where it’s okay to throw it away if it’s not there. That’s something I think I did a lot better last year. … That’s just me out there trying to compete and trying to make a play. No matter what, I’m going to keep coming every single play."
Despite his struggling form, Beck received fierce backing from Georgia coach Kirby Smart in a passionate dressing room speech after the game against the Gators.
During his weekly news conference ahead of the game against Ole Miss, Smart once again reiterated his confidence in his starting quarterback.
"I think I was more pleased after watching the tape than anything, because I mean, out of 73 snaps, he had 68 winning decisions, really good decisions," Smart said. "I mean, 68 for 73, pretty good in any sport I'm in, that you're in. I think the concern is the mistakes can't be catastrophic. You've got to make good decisions."
Carson Beck has the chance to show a turnaround in form against the Ole Miss Rebels and justify Kirby Smart's faith in him.
