LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier's brotherly love on full display after crushing rival Oklahoma 37-17
Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU Tigers closed the season with a big victory over the Oklahoma Sooners 37-17 on Saturday. Nussmeier put in a good display, throwing for 277 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdown passes were 40+ yards bombs to Chris Hilton.
After the game, the Tigers signal-caller was seen celebrating the end of the season with his younger brother as he ran towards the locker room.
With the victory, the Tigers close the season with an overall record of 8-4, which will hardly put them in the CFP, which was their original opening season goal. However, coach Chip Kelly seems sure that his team will make it there next season. He told the press the following the end of the game:
“We’re taking receipts, and we’ll see you at the national championship," Kelly said. "This team’s building and we’re excited about it. And we're really proud of them.”

Garrett Nussmeier also seemed happy at the way the Tigers were able to close out their season, with a victory over a big conference opponent like Oklahoma. The signal-caller suffered a mid-game injury on his throwing shoulder, which had to be treated during the encounter. This didn't prevent him from leading them to victory. Here's what he had to say after the clock ran out:
“My job is to lead my team and do whatever I have to do to win the football game and I wasn't thinking about my shoulder at all, once I made the decision I was going, I was going.”
It remains to be seen to which bowl the LSU Tigers get invited to and whether Nussmeier will partake. It's been speculated that the signal-caller might declare for the NFL Draft this year, with some even considering him a first-round draft pick. Nussmeier is a junior and could still return for his senior year.
Garrett Nussmeier ended the regular season as the sixth quarterback with the most passing yards, with 3735.
