Marcus Freeman confirms Notre Dame’s uniform choice for playoff clash against Indiana
As the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish get ready for their Friday encounter against No. 10 Indiana, it has been revealed that they will wear new uniforms for their College Football Playoff encounter. It's unknown what the new uniforms will look like, with even coach Marcus Freeman allegedly not privy to the new design.
Nonetheless, there have been some rumors that black and gold will be the predominant colors of the new uniforms, with Freeman wearing a hoodie with those colors in his latest appearance before the press.
While team captains usually have the final say on what is worn on gameday, the sources seem to agree that Notre Dame will have a new look on Friday night. Here's what Freeman said about the new uniforms:
"I obviously let our captains decide what we wear. I am informed that we have new jerseys for the games. I was informed that weeks ago, if we made the playoffs, Under Armour was going to give us new jerseys.
“But I haven’t seen them. Really just focusing on this game and preparing the right way for this task at hand.”
Marcus Freeman on what the CFP means for Notre Dame
Besides the new uniforms, the coach spoke at length about what this encounter with Indiana means for the South Bend school.
"Listen, you’re talking about a College Football Playoff game," Freeman said. "Every college football team that’s in the playoffs is going to have a chip on their shoulder. They’re (isn’t) going to be a lack of motivation for anybody.
“So it’s still going to be about preparation and performance. That’s what matters the most. Every game we play, you have to control your emotions, right? It will be an emotional game. This is a big game. We all know that, but it’s still ultimately going to come down to execution and preparation is going to be executed at high level.”
Notre Dame's game against Indiana is set for Friday, at 8:00 p.m. ET at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. The Hoosiers are looking for their first victory over the Irish since 1950, and the first in South Bend since 1906. The game will air on ABC and ESPN.
