"Memphis bound" - Carson Beck's mum Tracy Beck expresses excitement ahead of Georgia - Ole Miss showdown
Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck has struggled in the past few weeks, throwing eight interceptions in his last three games as coach Kirby Smart's team battles for a place in the SEC championship game and a spot in the playoff. Despite the struggles, the Bulldogs have won all those games heading into the home stretch of the season.
In the Week 10 clash against Billy Napier's Florida, Beck threw three interceptions as the Gators threatened to pull off an upset for the ages before ultimately losing 34-20. Ahead of the crucial Weeek 11 clash against coach Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels, Beck got support from his mother. Tracy Beck who posted a picture on her Instagram stories of her journey to Oxford to watch her son play.
"Memphis bound. Oxford here we come! Gooo DAWGS," Tracy Beck wrote.
Tracy Beck has been in regular attendance of her son's games this season hyping him up as he attempts to lead the Bulldogs to the playoff after missing out last year.
She also attends Georgia games to support her daughter, Kylie Beck, who is a cheerleader for the Bulldogs.
Beck has Smart's support despite struggles
Ahead of the game against Ole Miss, Smart vocalized his support for Beck during his weekly news conference.
“I was more pleased after watching the tape than anything,” Smart said. “Out of 73 snaps he (Beck) had 68 really good winning decisions.”
During his news conference after the Florida game, Beck also addressed his interception woes.
“It’s an in-game, decision-making thing,” Carson Beck said. “There’s times where it’s OK to throw it away if it’s not there. That’s something I think I did a lot better last year. … That’s just me out there trying to compete and trying to make a play.
“No matter what, I’m going to keep coming every single play, no matter what happened on the play before. I’ve always been resilient in that way, and when the team needs me, I’m going to bring that. Obviously, I’m going to watch the film and see what I can correct. In the future, I have to be better, and that’s exactly what is going to happen.”
As the college football season enters the home stretch, the Bulldogs will need Beck to find his form if they are to fulfill their preseason No. 1 ranking and win both the SEC and the national championship.
